Lawyer-journalist Ronquillo C. Tolentino was conferred a journalism service award by the Publishers Association of the Philippines, Inc.
The award was given to Tolentino, former Vice-Governor of Aklan on the occasion of the Mid-year Conference of the Publishers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (PAPI) and the 2011 Federation of Provincial Press Clubs of the Philippines, Inc. (FPPCPI) General Meeting and Elections of Officers held at Ayala Hall, Makati Sports Club, Makati on June 23, 2011.
Awarded by FPPCPI and PAPI Chairman Juan P. Dayang assisted by PAPI Secretary-General Johnny C. Nuñez and FPPCPI President Allan T. Sison, Tolentino was recognized for his fatigue-defying service to the cause of press freedom while serving as Vice-Governor of Aklan Province; as president of the Aklan Press Club, Inc.; as columnist of Panay News and other newspapers. Tolentino is now the legal counsel of the Aklan Press Club, Inc., the organization of Aklanon Journalists first organized in the year 1956.
Further, Tolentino was recognized for his outstanding leadership in campus journalism, for mobilizing the collective power of the community press in promoting social and economic development as Director of the Federation of the Provincial Press Club of the Philippines (FPPCP) for many years, thus making him a lifetime member of the local media.
Atty. Allen Salas Quimpo, former Aklan congressman received the award for Tolentino in the presence of former University of the Philippines President Dr. Francisco Nemenzo Jr., and Supreme Court Administrator Midas Marquez. /MP
