Localizing Magna Carta of Women In DAR

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Aklan through its GAD Focal Point System led by Eberardo N. Erispe, Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer II commenced the localization of the Magna Carta of Women (MCW) during the observance of the Silver anniversary of CARP. It was held last month at the Aklan Training Center, Kalibo, Aklan.
 
Director Cynthia Aranas of the Civil Service Commission, Aklan discussed RA 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act, the law protecting women and children.
 
DAR-Aklan’s role in the implementation of the MCW is provided for by DAR Administrative Order No. 1 Series of 2011, the Guideline Governing Gender Equality in the Implementation of Agrarian Reform Laws and mainstreaming Gender and Development in the DAR. This was discussed by Atty Heminio Pellobello Jr. , OIC Chief, Legal Division.
 
Dr. Jocelyn Garcia explained the Gynecological Disorders covered under the Special Leave for Women in the Magna Carta of Women. She al

so provided tips on self breast examination for women employees and other wellness tips for working women.
 
Male employees were likewise updated on health issues specifically the cause, cure and prevention of Prostate cancer. Detailed discussion and graphic presentation of the illness increased the awareness of the 90 DAR Aklan employees.
 
PARO Eberardo N. Erispe of DAR-Aklan reiterated the role of DAR Aklan in upholding its commitment to fulfill DAR’s role towards gender equity and equality and the empowerment of women especially the agrarian reform beneficiaries. /MP
