Iloilo City – To encourage marginalized farmers to uplift their economic status, enhance their capabilities in food production and be a contributor to the countryside development, the Department of Agriculture - Bottom Up Budgeting (DA-BUB) allotted a total of Php 2.7M to be used for various livelihood projects in Buenavista, Guimaras.

According to Dr. Joyce S. Wendam, DA-Regional Technical Director and BUB focal person, the project emanates from the farmers’ association through a project proposal assisted by the municipal agriculture office.

She said that all 36 barangays of the municipality of Buenavista will receive livelihood projects like cattle raising, swine raising, native chicken production, duck raising and goat raising for livestock and poultry. While for high value crops, provision of PAKBET vegetable seeds, Calamansi seedlings, Cashew seedlings and banana suckers will be given.

Meanwhile, Mayor Eugenio G.
