U.P. MADRIGAL  SINGERS  CAPTIVATES  KAPISNONS 
The U.P. Madrigal  Singers, more popularly known also as the Philippine Madrigal Singers, and MADZ, for  short, was in town on a concert tour through the sponsorship of the Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion (CPC)  in Roxas City.

The two-hour concert was held at the Capiz Gymnasium on August 7,  2015 at 5:00 pm.The nearly filled up gymnasium  of students, teachers,  employees, local officials and olther residents of the city were  enthralled by their varied styles of singing.

For a backgrounder, the Philippine Madrigal Singers was first established  in l963 by the National Artist for Music Prof. Andrea Veneracion.The group is composed of students, faculty and alumni from the different colleges of the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City.

The Madrigal Singers are the most awarded and acclaimed choir in the Philippines as well as in Asia, having consistently  won precious choral  competitions for many years.

In 1969, the Madrigal Singers competed in the First Choruses of the World Festival at the Lincon Center in New York City where they earned critical acclaim. This made them known to the international choral community as well and paved the way to their winning top prizes in distinguished international choral competitions in various countries in Europe.

Among the songs they rendered at a concert are “Hangang”, “Ay Kalisud”,  “Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka”,  “Bituing Walang Ningning”,  “Sana Maulit Muli”, “Medley”, “How did you Know”, “William Tell Overture”, and many other classical songs.

“This is my first time to see the Madrigal Singers uniquely singing in a semi circle style, “said a retired school teacher who attended the concert. Every song is most applauded by a pleased audience.
