PMMA Slates Its Annual Entrance Examination


The Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) will hold the PMMA Annual Entrance Examination on November 25, 2006. The nearest testing center to Aklan is at the Iloilo National High School, Iloilo City.
PMMA is offering courses on Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation and Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering. It offers scholarships to deserving students highly subsidized by the government.
The PMMA Annual Entrance Examination is open to both male and female who are physically fit, natural born Filipino citizen, single, never been married and had no children out of wedlock, between 16 to 22 years old upon college admission in June, at least high school graduate or graduating from high school in April 2007 and qualified to enroll in a four-year degree course. At least 5’4" in height and 55 kg. in weight for male and 5’2" and 50 kg. for female, with an average academic performance. Applicants who have taken Trigonometry in high school and never been enrolled in the PMMA are preferable.
Those who have defective visual perception, physical deformities, perforated ear drum, chronic sinusitis, bleeding tendencies, hemorrhoids, hernia, varicocoele, extensive skin disorders, a history of heart disease, hypertension, asthma, active PTB, kidney and liver diseases, epileptic seizure disorders, major operations, communicable diseases, full dentures (upper and lower), cleft lip and palate, malocclusion, deformities of the face, tongue–tied, missing four anterior teeth (front), missing four posterior teeth (molar) tattoos and other brotherhood marks, goiter, history of pregnancy, presence of breast mass and painful menstruation do not need to apply for this entrance examination.
Interested applicants may submit the following: 4 copies of recent 2x2 colored pictures with nameplate (front view, white background), PhP300.00 examination fee in cash or postal money order payable to the PMMA Committee on Admissions, Certified True Copy of Birth Certificate issued by the Civil Registrar (Baptismal and Hospital birth Certificates are not honored), and pieces of long white mailing envelopes with PhP25.00 worth of stamps per envelope.
