APFTI-DTI HOLDS SEMINAR-WORKSHOP

Fair trade is a trading partnership towards sustainable development for excluded, disadvantaged and marginalized entrepreneurs, producers, workers and communities. Fair Trade makes sure that goods and services are safe, of world-class quality, reasonably priced, environment-friendly and consumer-sensitive. Fair Trade can be a way out of poverty.

Advocate of Philippine Fair Trade, Inc. (APFTI) in cooperation with the Department of Trade & Industry with the support of Athena Business Solutions and Management Services held a 5-day seminar workshop on "How to Make a Business Plan". It was held at the 2nd floor, Bread & Butter Store, Kalibo, Aklan. Regina Irene A. Gaza – APFTI consultant for Western Visayas, Rosalie A. Panganiban – DTI Account Executive, Rodalin Malones – Trainer/Consultant of Athena were the resource speakers. Melrose S. Lunn, Pamela S. Reynaldo and Edna S. Villanueva were the consolidators/facilitators.
Participants came from high-end business men and women in the food business and loom industry in Kalibo, Aklan. The seminar-workshop taught enterprise owners how to make and present their own business plans for business improvement, expansion, to tailor fit for funding by financial institutions.
APFTI is a non-government organization which seeks to end poverty by spreading Fair Trade in the Philippines among producers, entrepreneurs and workers.
The seminar-workshop was free to businessmen. APFTI advocates the following:
Producer Advocacy – advocates standards and principles of fair trade to producers; Consumer and Media Advocacy – in partnership with other fair trade organizations; Legislative and Policy Advocacy –strives for the enactment of Fair Trade Law that guarantees support and protection to small producers; Special Fair-Trade Events –organizes World Trade Day, and Annual Partner’s Conference; and Philippine Fair Trade Forum (PFTF) Secretariat - that provides support to PFTF.
Those which may avail of APFTI’s Programs and Services are:
1. Micro to Small and Medium Enterprises in the FOOD and GTH/Furniture Sectors; 2. At least 1 year in business operation; 3. Legally registered business; 4. Open to practice Fair Trade Principles and Standards; and 5. Committed to a development process.
The Department of Trade & Industry is charged to create a business-friendly environment conducive to the growth of enterprises and supportive of fair and robust trade in goods and services in and out of the Philippines.
