The District of Batan hosted Unit I Cultural and Athletic Meet this year 2006. Unit I comprises three (3) districts such as Batan, Altavas and New Washington. All events was held in the Batan Elementary School, Batan, Aklan.
The result of the games as tabulated showed that Batan district garnered the highest points in all events both in Elementary and Secondary levels. Batan dominated the district of Altavas and New Washington.
The most exciting game played was volleyball. Elementary school boys and girls of both districts had well trained players but Batan players got the most of it. Players came from the most depressed schools in Batan, the Songcolon Elementary School. The team was trained and coached by the Head Teacher III himself, as well as the Batan Sports Coordinator, Mr. Pablo R. Sucgang, Jr. The game was cheered by the teachers of Batan including the school heads of different schools and also the district supervisors of Batan and Altavas in the person of Mr. Artemio D. Regalado and Mr. Salcedo B. Sabino – also a Batangnon.
The over all results of Unit I Athletic Meet 2006 held on November 17 – 18, 2006, Secondary and Elementary levels are: champion – Batan, 1st runner up – New Washington and 2nd runner up – Altavas. /MP mailto:madyaas_pen@yahoo.com
