During their first encounter, Pacquiao floored Marquez three successive times. However, Marquez managed to have a draw in a twelve round encounter.

Since December 15, 2007, Marquez has been training rigidly for this second encounter in the evening on March 15, 2008 in Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada. It will be Sunday morning, March 16, 2008 in the Philippines.

Marquez did daily high altitude jogging. He had logged 120 rounds of sparing under the guidance of Ignacio Beristain. He is a Mexican boxing trainor who has produced a total of 17 world boxing champions.

“I am coming to fight and I am coming to box and this time it will be different and I want to do it right” Marquez told the members of the media in Spanish. According to him, when he fought Pacquiao for the first time, Marquez admitted “he came into the fight too loose and relaxed’. This time, I will be more cautious, Marquez added.

At The Press Conference

Manny Pacquiao chose to be humble during the press presentation held in Los Angeles, California. Marquez was surrounded by his countrymen. It appeared that Plaza Olvera in downtown Los Angeles, California is predominantly Mexican. Pacquiao appeared like a visitor in an unknown territory. Mexican out numbered the Filipinos 9:1 who shouted, “Viva Mexico!” cheering their pet boxer.

Pacquiao Team proceeded to the nearby Thai restaurant to eat their lunch. Lunch over, they proceeded to Las Vegas in a 12 cars convoy. Though the arrival was unannounced, several Filipino fans welcomed them upon their arrival in Mandalay Bay Hotel.

Juan Manuel Marquez vowed to end Pacquiao’s domination of Mexican boxers. But Manny Pacquiao has trained hard and he is in good shape. Bob Arum said, “Marquez is a capable fighter, a good fighter, but there will be just one winner and that is Manny Pacquiao”. /MP
