Aklan Athletes In Palarong Pambansa 2010

The Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) headed by Gov. Carlito S. Marquez as the Honorary Head of Delegation is set for 2010 Palarong Pambansa to be held at Tarlac Recreational Park, San Jose, Tarlac on April 11 to 17. The theme of this year’s palaro is "Play for the Region, Win for the Nation."

Dr. Victorina S. Laroza, Schools Division Superintendent, flagship Amazing Aklan athletes will contend for physical prowess at the national competitions.

In a DepEd Regional Memorandum No. 36 dated March 23, a total of 32 Aklan athletes will compete in different sports events.

Elementary volleyball boys, the only team event bagged gold in WVRAAM, listed the most number of players. They are Mike Louiz O. Rondael, Reanmon Josef G. Panlilio, R B Solanoy, Jovencio N. Nalayog Jr, Reynel Jude R. Niñofranco, Junejay R. Sucgang, Niño Reo Lanciso and Ace Jefre M. Saludo. Anna Liza C. Salvador is the coach. Rueben N. Inaudito and Ramon Leonardo F. Lumibao completed the line-up for secondary volleyball boys.

In athletics girls, elementary is composed of Alyssa Marie Andrade, Jerrymay I. Rubias and Mary Cris Tabiolo; Ma. Jessa G. Valeriano, Janine B. Paroginog and Cyrenejoy B. Magbanua for secondary with Merlyn I. Ebardolasa, the chaperon. Valeriano and Andrade are the most awarded athletes in WVRAAM. They garnered four and three gold medals in their respective athletic events.

Arnis boys who dominated both anyo and full contact matches in WVRAAM are Raineir Paolo T. Vallejo, Venndelle B. Magdael, Jeremiah B. Estrada, Joe Mark E. Antonio and John Freche M. Bautista. Renegerio A. Vallejo Jr, the coach.

The power trio boxers are Macky M. Delfin, Noreil S. Pellio and Raymund M. Salmingo. Gonzalo B. Jacinto is the coach and Abundio Jun Montesa is the trainer. Aklan’s boxers Delfin and Pellio were gold and silver medalists respectively in 2009 Palaro.

Composing the swimming elementary girls are Isabella Selyn T. Ibarreta and Ada Beatriz A. Ortega; and Mark Anthony T. Roberts for boys.

Jeril C. Panadero and Izza Marie Lourdes Masangcay play for badminton elementary boys and girls respectively.

Ralph Lorence G. Salsona made a slot in baseball and Christian P. Recidoro in taekwondo both in elementary; and Clark Spencer S. Magdaluyo marked a spot for sepak takraw.

"Go for honor, go for gold, but the most important thing is not the winning but how the games are played. Viva Aklanon athletes, we are proud of you," said Kalibo Mayor Raymar A. Rebaldo, the Honorary Co-Head of Delegation of WV officials and athletes.

Ms. Mary Ann S. Lopez, the Asst. Athletic Manager for Management, conveyed in a radio interview that Region VI delegates will leave on April 4. Capas Gabaldon Elem. School and Dominican College of Tarlac will be the billeting schools for WV. /MP
