NVC 62nd Commencement Program

Some 23 honor students lead during the 62nd Annual Graduation program of the Northwestern Visayan Colleges, Kalibo, Aklan held on March 27 at CSQ Gymn, Estancia, Kalibo.

The 23 who graduated cum laude are among the total of 305 students who completed degrees of various courses. According to Executive Vice President Erlinda Q.F. Wilson, these honor graduates are: Jeda Lachica Sale, Ma. Grace Luces and Richie Oloroso – AB Mass Com; Arfe Espino Lachica, Sapphire Nicolas Gervacio, and Kit Capnao Magdaluyo – BEED, Apple Cristy Vallejo Almero, Rhea Fernandez Sablaon Lenalie dela Torre Solano, Christy Sonio Domingo, Maria Jane Tolentino Edjan, and Debby Faith Jayme Ruiz – BSED;

Marjun Neon Regalado, and Evelyn Olog Tadeo – BSC; Mary Dane Delfin Alba, Shelry Samonte Barrientos, Rodelyn Randoy Paguirigan, Kattyrine Nabiong Merced, Jemaima Ureta Sales and Vivian De Luis Payba – B.S. Crim;

Kathleen Tonette Nagor Park, Analyn Sunga Valentin, and Robel Trance Talislis – B.S. HRM; Genelyn Viray Villaflor – BSCS.

The number of graduates are: MPA, one (1); MAED-six (6); 88 BS Criminology; 19 BSEED; 33 BEED; 21 BSC; 19 BSCS; 19 BS HRM; 11 AB Masscom; 32 Computer Secretarial; 52 Ass. HRM; and one (1) Associate Criminology; and three (3) Ass. Sanitary Science.

There are also 78 high school graduates, 24 elementary, and 16 preparatory.
Moreover, Ma. Grace Luces, Sheryl Santillan, Mark Anthony Reyes, and Richie Oloroso were awarded the Allen S. Quimpo Leadership awards. Apple Cristy V. Almero, Jayfer T. Salcedo, Lester T. Cadunggan, and Ramon Leonardo F. Lumibao are the recipients of Hon. Lilian Quimpo Tirol Cultural and Sports awards.

A three termer Congressman of Bukidnon, Dr. J.R. Nereus O. Acosta was the guest of honor and commencement speaker. Hon. Plaridel M. Morania introduced Dr. Acosta.

Dr. Acosta is a multi degree holder. He finished two PhD degrees in two prestigious universities in the United States. He is an academician being a college professor in Ateneo de Manila University.

Acosta in his speech dwelt much on the "power of imagination". According to him, what a person imagines, he can do it. A part of his address was spent in interviews of five graduates. Acosta asked them their names, the degrees completed and their projections about themselves five years after graduation.

"Can you imagine what is your stature in life five years after graduation? Acosta asked the graduates.

NVC President Atty. Allen S. Quimpo confirmed the degrees of the graduates after they were presented for graduation by Ms. Erlinda Q.F. Wilson, vice president for academic affairs, NVC.

Mr. Cristy B. Laurente, professor Loreto R. Berlandino, and Hon. Jerome T. Vega were proclaimed Outstanding NVC Alumni 2010. Ms. Melrose Q. Martelino, chairman of BOD, NVC awarded medals and certificates to outstanding alumni and honor graduates. /MP
