Aklan Piña and Fiber Festival Highlights Aklan Day




Barong tagalog, long gowns, dresses and bags and other fashion accessories made of premium quality products of Aklan such as piña, abaca, and raffia loomwoven fabrics displayed in the Trade Hall, Capitol Grounds, Kalibo, Aklan last year.

The Aklan Piña and Fiber Festival, now on its 13th year, is a model of public and private partnership (PPP) of the Provincial Government of Aklan, Department of Trade and Industry, Fiber Industry Development Authority, Aklan Piña Manufacturers and Traders Association, Inc., Hugod Aklanon Producers Association, Inc., and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc.-Aklan Chapter.

Aklan Piña and Fiber Festival will be one of the highlights of the Aklan Day Celebration from 23-29 April 2012. The venue is The Trade Hall, Capitol Grounds, Kalibo, Aklan.

Through the years, DTI has spearheaded this showcase of Aklan’s locally developed premium quality products such as piña, abaca, and raffia loomwoven fabrics and fashion accessories; gifts, furnishings, and decorative crafts; processed meat and fish, bakery and confectionery, and engineered bamboo products.

The exhibit also includes the One-Town-One Product (OTOP) booths of all 17 municipalities of Aklan, including the display of fresh farm produce of community-based organization,, agencies, and institutions.

Moreover, there will also be a week-long nightly food festival and entertainment at the Tsibugan sa Kapitolyo, located in the Provincial Capitol Grounds.

The success of this marketing activity for the past 12 years is attributable to the effective public and private partnership of the cooperating entities, Engr. Diosdado P. Cadena Jr., DTI Provincial Director of Aklan pointed out. /MP
