PNP Arrests 4 Suspects In Nabas


For their involvement in illegal gambling in Nabas, Aklan, four (4) suspects were arrested on Wednesday night, January 26 by joint elements of Nabas PNP and Aklan Criminal Investigation and Detection Team.

The arrests were part of the intensified campaign of Aklan PNP against all forms of illegal gambling in the province, said Officer In-charge police senior superintendent Cornelio Defensor.

The suspects were caught while in the act of consolidating money bets at the store at Brgy. Libertad, Nabas, Aklan. They are identified as Jose Castillo y Cireneo, 41 years old, married, resident of Brgy. Buenasuerte, Nabas, Aklan; Jelmar Sulat y Sayawan, 29 years old, married, resident of Brgy.Libertad, Nabas, Aklan; Zenaida Cahilig y Flores, 60 years old, married and resident of Brgy. Libertad, Nabas, Aklan; and Celerina Solidum y Sadiasa 46 years old, widow and resident of Brgy.Unidos, Nabas, Aklan. Their other companions were able to evade arrest by scampering to different directions.

Confiscated from the suspects’ possession and control were several papers containing different number combinations for EZ2 game, illegal numbers game paraphernalia and bet money amounting to P1,000.50.

The suspects are now detained at the Aklan Rehabilitation Center, Nalook, Kalibo, Aklan for violating Presidential Decree No. 1602 after an inquest case was filed at the Prosecutors Office, Kalibo. /MP
