ASU Reviews Extension Projects





Aklan State University conducted its University Extension Program In-House Review. It was held on Aug. 25 – 26 in the Audio Visual Room, ASU, Banga, Aklan.


The In-House Review is under the Extension and Community Services of the ASU. It aims to: 1. package and disseminate appropriate technologies; 2. empower the stakeholders to sustain community development in the service areas of the ASU; 3. strengthen strategic partnership with LGUs, government agencies and non government organi-zations; and 4. collaborate with research and development, training, information communication technology services for effective and efficient delivery of extension services.


Some four (4) completed extension projects were presented by Prof. Fred P. Mejia, Dr. Evelyn P. Vedasto, Dr. Molly L. Naigan, and Ms. Carol Joy Palma Remaneses. These are fisheries school in the air, quality vegetables, enhancement of animal health program, and eco-health agenda.


ASU has six (6) on-going extension projects concerning education for lifelong human enhance-ment, development program for Katunggan in Ibajay, support to law enforcement, public – private schools partners for quality education, teacher’s cooperative, and hope for education of the learners.


These projects were presented by Mr. Emily M. Arangote, Prof. Librada F. Rebustes; Prof. Ailyn Q. Relojero, Dr. Cecile O. Legaspi, Mr. Inocencio Ruzgal, and Prof. Margie C. Tipan.


There were nine (9) proposed extension projects which are: Skills Development by Dr. Edna I. Gonzales; Nature Nurture: Nurture Nature by Prof. Fred Mejia and RD Dela Cruz; Solid Waste Management and Plant A Tree by Dr. Celedonia R. Hilario; Polo Coastal Resource Management by Prof. Elaine P. Dela Cruz; Nutrition For Brgy. Muguing by Ms. Josephine R. Pajo; Natural Fibers Technology Resource Center by Ms. Lelisa J. Teodosio, SMART by Ms. Necitos Z. Rios; Rabies Concepts in Classroom Teaching by Dr. Molly L. Naigan; and Community Based Health Program by Prof. Carol Joy Palma Remaneses.


Dr. Vicente M. Nim, Chief Regional Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory, DA, Regional Field Unit 6; Dr. Greta G. Gabinete, Extension Director, West Visayas State University, Iloilo City; and Dr. Ambrosio R. Villorente, editor/publisher of Madyaas Pen served as panellists. /MP
