Roxas City – Barangay Cagay, one of the 47 barangays in Roxas City is sustaining its status as a Hall of Famer barangay. It launched the search for outstanding puroks and households involved in the clean and green program of the said barangay.
In the early 2000s Barangay Cagay was declared among the Hall of Famer barangays in Region 6 after coveting the search for outstanding barangays of component cities under the Gawad Pangulo sa Kapaligiran program the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) administered.
That time Punong Barangay Arturo A. Aragon and former Punong Baraangay Moreno A. Gonzaga teamed up and launched an inter-purok/household clean and green contest thru their banner program of “ Malimpyo ang Palibut Ko 20ll”.
Nine puroks/households participated in the competition which are Puroks Kagitingan (Sitio Crosing), Mabinoylogon (BLISS), Mainuswagon (San Isidro), Mabinugahon (Pagutok), Mahinang-panon (Cagay Elem. School), Mahidaiton (Sitio Bangbang), Magayon (Sitio Bangbang) and Masinadyahon (Kablatan).
The final evaluation made by the Committee of Evaluators headed by RMN/DYVR Station Manager Ely Abarra declared the winners during the award ceremony held at Cagay Barangay Hall in December 2011.
The winners under Purok category are: First place – Purok Magayon (Sitio Bangbang); Second place – Purok Masinad-yahon (Sitio Kablatan),; Third place – Purok Mahinangpanon (Cagay Elem. School); and Fourth place – Purok Mainuswagon (Sitio Plaridel).
The winners under household category are: First place – Mrs. Luzviminda Rizon family; Second place – Mrs. Carmelita Almontero family; and the Third place – Mrs. Lerma Ombega family.
All winners were awarded cash prizes and certificates of appreciation. /MP
