SP Seeks CAAP’s Full Support To Aklan SME’s

by ODON S. BANDIOLA

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Aklan has sought the full support of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) in the promotin and marketing of local products of Aklan produced by Aklanon small and medium entrepreneurs.

Specifically, the SP requested CAAP to allocate adequate space or stalls in the expanded terminal building of the Kalibo International Airport in a location prominent enough where local products can be displayed and sold to tourists and travellers alike.

This intervention of the provincial legislative body is embodied in Resolution No. 2012-252 the SP passed during its 32nd Regular Session on September 19, 2012.

Although, local producers of Aklan were alloted spaces in the old terminal building of the Kalibo Airport, the same space had been relegated to a not-so-prominent location hardly noticeable by people using the facilities of the said airport.
These small and medium entrepreneurs of Aklan had been making representations with the management of the KIA. However, the decision as to whom the available spaces can be allocated remains in the hands of the management of the CAAP at the national or head office, Metro Manila.

KIA Manager Percy Malonesio vowed to help local producers but his action can only be recommendatory.

Local producers wanted an adequate and prominent space in the expanded terminal building where their products can be prominently displayed and sold.  /MP
