PRC-Aklan Elects Tolentino Prexy


Lawyer-journalist Ronquillo C. Tolentino was elected President of the Philippine Red Cross-Aklan Chapter in an election held on September 22, 2012 at the PRC-Aklan headquarters. His election is his fourth consecutive term.

Elected with Tolentino, according PRC Administrator Arcely P. Pelayo, are: Dr. Ambrosio R. Villorente-Vice   Chairman; Hon. Bayani M. Cordova- Asst. Sec./Treasurer; Hon. Madeline A. Regalado-Secretary; Mr. Augusto C. Tolentino-Auditor; Mrs. Remia H. Donguines- Treasurer; and Atty. Plaridel M. Morania-Legal Counsel.

Tolentino, probably the only Aklanon, who served the longest chairmanship in the Aklan Press and Radio Club (now) Aklan Press Club, Inc. from 1979-1993;  Boy Scouts of the Philippines, Aklan Council from 2000-2010 and the Philippine Red Cross Aklan-Chapter since 2006.  He was also chairman/president of other socio-civic-professional organizations such as Aklan (Kalantiao) Jaycees, Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Aklan Chapter;  charter president of the Aklan Government and Information Officers Association (AGPIOA), Community Journalist Association of Western Visayas, President of the Aklan Historical Society, exclusive of religious organizations that he led.

Tolentino had been in journalism since 1960 to present.  He had served briefly as a broadcast journalist.  He is a recipient of various awards from the Philippine Association of Publishers, Inc. (PAPI), Federation of Provincial Press Clubs, Aklan Press Club, Inc. Aklan United Media Association (AUMA) and other press organizations. PAPI President Johnny Dayang informed Tolentino on September 20, 2012 that he has been chosen as a journalism awardee by the Federation of Provincial Press Clubs of the Philippines in  the PAPI National  Convention held at Baguio city on October 20, 2012.

Tolentino also served the government service as Aklan Assistant Provincial Secretary, Manager of the Bureau of Employment Service, Ministry of Labor and Employment provincial office, Kalibo Sangguniang Bayan member; three-termer Aklan Sangguniang Panlalawigan member capped by his being Senior Sangguniang Panlalawigan member on his third term, and as Vice Governor of Aklan. He is also in active law practice for  thirty four years. /MP
