2015 Aklan Investment Forum

The Lone District of Aklan, and LGU Aklan in partnership with the National Economic Development Authority and Regional Development Council of Region VI will hold the 2015 Aklan Investment Forum on July 17, 2015 at Café Latte, Estancia, Kalibo, Aklan.

This Forum is in pursuant to their commitment to encourage trade and investment for countryside development according to Gov. Florencio T. Miraflores. The Forum aims to promote inclusive growth through the creation of a more competitive business environment in Aklan. It will gather investors, entrepreneurs and industry experts from both public and private sectors to discuss actions to create a better investment and business environment in Aklan, Cong.  Teodorico T. Haresco, Jr. pointed out.

Among others, the Forum expects to: 1. Get an exclusive preview of select investment opportunities, 2. Find new prospects in a highly efficient manner, 3. Meet the key players and discuss possible avenues for partnership, 4. Network with existing and new contacts to build relationships for the future, 5. Gain insight on Aklan’s overall economic plans and future, and 6. Develop in-depth understanding specific to key sectors of interest.

Among the important topics to be discussed are: Aklan’s Investment Situation and Portfolio; Financing Aklan’s Basic Public Infrastructure and Utilities; Investment Opportunities in Aklan; Investing in Aklan’s Agriculture; Exploring Aklan’s Tourism Potentials; Fostering Aklan’s Manufacturing Industry; and Securing Government and ODA Supports to Achieve Inclusive and Sustainable Development for Aklan.

Expected to attend in this one day Investment Forum are chiefs of offices and investment officers, Portfolio Managers Corporate, Financial Analysts Consultants, Research Analysts, Financial Advisors, LGU Policy and Decision Makers, Heads of government organizations, ODA Partners, Private Sector Investors, Business Groups and Industry Experts.

Cong. Teodorico T. Haresco, Jr. will welcome the guests and participants to this Forum. Mr. Peter Wallace will deliver the Opening Statements. Wallace is the chairman and president of Wallace Business Forum.

Hon. Margarito “Gary” Teves will give the Inspirational Message. He is the former Secretary of Finance and President, Land Bank of the Philippines.

Gov. Miraflores will present “Aklan’s Investment Situation and Portfolio”. There will be three (3) speakers who will discuss “Exploring Aklan’s Tourism Potentials”. They will come from the Aklan Provincial Tourism Office, Boracay Foundation, Inc., and Major Private Sector Investors.

Representatives from the Aklan Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, Local Farmer Investor, and Major Private Sector Investor will present “Investing in Aklan’s Agriculture”. 

DTI Aklan representative, Fiber Entrepreneur, and major Private Sector Investor will present “Fostering Aklan’s Manufacturing Industry”. The business of “Securing Government and ODA Support to Achieve Inclusive and Sustainable Development For Aklan” will be presented by representatives from DA/BFAR, DTI, DOST, DOT, TESDA, WB, ADB, JICA, USAID, UNDP, KOICA, EU, and AusAID. NEDA Regional Director Ro-Ann A. Bacal of Region VI will moderate the discussion.

Aklan Provincial Governor Florencio T. Miraflores will close, with his Closing Remarks, the Forum. /MP
