NFA-Antique Assures Enough Supply Of Rice
Ms. Ma. Analee M. Galilea of NFA-Antique is discussing the programs of the Agency among 150 farmer-participants during the Agricultural Information Caravan and Technology Forum held at Libertad, Antique Gym last June 30, 2015. She stressed that NFA is intensifying its procurement activities, always ready to provide quality and affordable rice and has enough supply among its warehouses in the province. (DA-RAFIS 6 photo).

“We have enough supply of rice in the province of Antique with an available stock of 17,326 bags as of today at the NFA warehouses.” said Ma. Analee M. Galilea the Provincial Industry Services Officer (PISO) of NFA Antique during the conduct of Agricultural Information Caravan and Technology Forum at Libertad on June 30, 2015.

She added that the NFA-Antique spearheaded by Provincial Manager Marianito B. Bejemino has already distributed 28,477 bags from January to June this year to all accredited stores province-wide and we are still intensifying our procurement activities to increase our stocks.

Galilea stressed that NFA-Antique stabilizes the rice supply and prices of rice during lean months wherein the agency offers as much as P17.70 per kilo support price for dried and clean palay and as low as P27.00 per kilo of NFA rice sold at accredited stores all over the province.

“The P17.70/kg support price for palay comprised the P17.00/kg assured buying price plus P0.20/kg delivery incentive or up to P0.50/kg. depending upon the distance from farm to buying station plus P0.20/kg drying incentive and P0.30/kg incentive if a farmer is a member of association or cooperative.” said Galilea.

She also encouraged the farmers from Northern Antique to buy good quality NFA rice which is very much comparable to high grade commercial rice.

“We can assure you that NFA rice does not provoke sickness for we at the NFA office and many government agencies in San Jose, Antique are eating this kind of rice for a long time now.” Galilea explained.

She also encouraged the farmers to sell their produce to the nearest NFA buying station stating that the agency has already simplified the requirement for farmers/masters passbook.

These are master-list of farmer members certified by LGU-MAO from the Mun. Agriculture Office indicating the hectarage and yield per hectare, farm area, certificate of good standing and certificate of registration from any registering agency for farmer’s associations/cooperatives.

Farmers can also avail of Cooperative Development Incentive Fund (CDIF) if they consistently sell their products to NFA. This incentive can be used by the cooperative to buy fertilizer, pay-up their loans at DA and NIA. Likewise, they are entitled under the FAIR program to buy from NFA up to 25 percent of the rice equivalent (computed at 65 percent) of the palay stocks they sold to NFA during the previous year.

Northern Antique farmers can also visit the satellite office situated at GID Culasi Warehouse, Bgy.Caridad, Culasi, Antique. /MP
