109th Independence Day Celebration In Kalibo

Audience which attended the 109th Independence Day celebration at Pastrana, Park, Kalibo, Aklan.

"Sama–sama Tayo Tungo sa Pag-asenso" is the theme of the 109th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence. President Emilio Aguinaldo first proclaimed Philippine independence by the window of his house in Kawit, Cavite on June 12, 1898.
In Kalibo, Aklan, the center of celebration this year was in Pastrana Park. There was a thanksgiving mass in the Cathedral, Parish of Saint John the Baptist. The Holy Mass over, the raising of the Philippine national flag was held at Pastrana Park by Mayor Raymar A. Rebaldo and Vice Mayor Nilda B. Tambing. Ms. Pearl Marie R. Diestro led the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, after which P/C Insp. Arnold P. Ardiente led also the Panunumpa sa Watawat.
Floral offerings were made in the Kalibo Heroes Memorial Shrine, Gat. Jose Rizal and Andres Bonifacio monuments.
Kalibo Mayor Raymar A. Rebaldo, in his message recalled the many blessings, Aklan particularly, Kalibo has been enjoying since independence.
Governor Carlito S. Marquez and Congressman Florencio T. Miraflores were indisposed. They were represented by Atty. Diego M. Luces, provincial administrator of Aklan.
The Independence Day celebration program held in Kalibo was attended purely by municipal officials and employees of Kalibo. /MP
