SP Aklan Saves P25.787 Million

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Aklan is able to save a huge amount of P25.787 million out of its budget allocation for legislative purposes for the last three years.
In a letter Vice Governor and SP presiding officer Ronquillo C. Tolentino furnished to all members of the Aklan SP, he revealed the SP Aklan has saved P2.61 million in 2004; P1.394 million in 2005; P2.755 million in 2006. As of April 30, 2007 there is still a remaining balance of P19.028 million for budget year 2007.
In a talk with Mr. Evan Timtiman, Provincial Treasurer of Aklan, he explained that those remaining balance for the past budget years can never be spent for expenses in those previous years unless there were reports of accounts payable on or before the closing of the books for that specific budget year. However, that appropriation can also be disbursed provided money for it is still available and with proper authorization.
The remaining balance of P19.028 for the 2007 budget year out of P35.184 million appropriation will be spent until December 30, 2007. Expenses for legislative services for the months of May and June of the SP headed by Vice Governor Ronquillo C. Tolentino (SP 2004 – 2007) will be subtracted from that P19.028 million. The remainder of which will be spent for the remaining part of 2007 (July – December) for the legislative service under SP which term is July 2007 – June 2010 under Vice Governor elect Gabrielle V. Calizo. /MP
