The Boracay Republic Band based in Kalibo, Aklan won recently the first place during the Smart Buddy Hot Summer Samahan year 2, a national band competition held in Metro Manila.
Dan Salas, coach of the Boracay Band said that the competition was held in Rajah Solayman Park, Roxas Boulevard, Metro Manila last May 26, 2007. The competition was participated by several prominent bands around the country.
The members of the Boracay Republic were Mary Pioquid for Bass; Dave Delos Reyes for the lead; Danny Sia for the keyboard: John Elbert Panadero for drums and Sheryl Diego for vocals.
"They sang the songs Pera and composition Tropa and Tatsulok," Salas said.
Smart Buddy Hot Summer Samahan is a celebration of the barkadahan spirit where the youth and those "youth at heart" came as one to hear and enjoy good music. /MP
