Aklan Police Nabs Suspected Drug Pusher


Joint Elements of Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) Operatives led by PSINSP Lory E. Tarrazona and Kalibo Police Station led by PO3 Joseph Cavan conducted entrapment operation using an asset to arrest the suspected drug pusher at Toting Reyes Street, Kalibo, Aklan on Monday, last week.

Police said the suspect was identified as Richie Vegas Y Jones, 32, married, tricycle driver, native of Roxas City  and presently residing at Brgy. New Buswang, Kalibo, Aklan. 

Confiscated from the suspect’s possession, custody and control were: One (1) heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or commonly known as “Shabu” wrapped in a calendar paper with black electrical tape; one (1) unit Nokia silver/gray cell phone Model 1209 with text messages of suspected illegal drug transactions; one (1) black wallet containing postal identity card and Philhealth ID both in the name of Richie Vegas; and one (1) unit red motorcycle Yamaha RS with Plate No. FR 3447 and Engine No. B115e-003737 used by the suspect in the delivery of said suspected shabu to the asset. 

Said suspect was brought at Kalibo Police Station including the confiscated items for documentation.

The inventory was conducted in the presence of the suspect, Atty. Ronilo R. Inventado as representative from the Department of Justice, Hon. Soviet Dela Cruz, SB member of Kalibo, Aklan and Mr. Daniel Tonel of Bombo Radio Kalibo. 

The case is now being readied for filing against the suspect.

Aklan Police Provincial Office director Senior Superintendent Cornelio T. Defensor said, the PNP is exerting every effort to reduce if not totally eliminate the proliferation of drugs through the conduct of buy-bust, entrapment operations, heightened police visibility, patrols and vigilance activities in cooperation with the community. /MP
