Aklan PPO Ready for Ati-Atihan Festival

The Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) is now waiting for some 300 policemen from the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 to augment the cops of Aklan to secure the traditional Ati-Atihan Festival of Aklan province being held annually in the Municipality of Kalibo on the 3rd Sunday of January, (January 14 – 20, 2008).
Aklan Police director Senior Superintendent Benigno Durana, Jr, said security preparations for the much-awaited weeklong Kalibo Señor Sto. Niño Festival are now in place. “We are prepared. We are just fine tuning our security preparations to guarantee the success of the grandest of festivals.”
The augmentation from municipal police stations of the province of Aklan composed of Two (2) PNP members each except from those municipalities which are also celebrating their annual festivals were augmented last night under the close supervision of Police Superintendent Arnold P Ardiente , the Chief of Police of Kalibo at the same time the Aklan PPO Deputy Provincial Director for Operation.
Several coordinating conferences are being undertaken by this Office with various agencies to fully ensure the success of the most celebrated festival of the province which is always expected to be graced by foreign and local tourists, dignitaries, visitors and local populace.
The 796th edition of the festival features street dancing and partying, Higante Parade, torch parade and procession, fireworks display, Ati-Atihan contest, conceleb rated field mass, pahilot or paeapak and the Ati-Atihan products showcase. VIVA! Kay Sr. Sto. Niño...VIVA!! /MP
