The Philippine National Police (PNP) awarded recently the “Medalya ng Kagalingan” to Supt. Arnold Ardiente, Kalibo police chief; SPO3 Joselito Tabios and PO1 Joel Melgar for their valuable participation in the arrest and investigation of five members of the “Budol-budol” gang which led to the filing of estafa and swindling cases.
Tabios is the intelligence officer who apprehended the five suspects – Felimon Dolino, Evelyn Vasquez, Catherine Limbaga, Luzminda Bolante and Leonardo Alcos while they were waiting for a ride to Iloilo province near a junk shop in Barangay Estancia, Kalibo, Aklan.
The suspects also tried to bribe PO1 Melgar for P3,360.00 in exchange for their liberty, but, they were instantly denied by the arresting officers. Three victims from the towns of Buruanga, New Washington and Libacao positively identified the Budol Budol members, Tabios added.
Aside from the three police officers, the PNP also conferred the “Medalya ng Papuri” to SPO4 Alfonso Manoba, Jr., SPO1 Orlando Renacido, PO3 Renie Armenio, PO3 Ricky Bontogon and PO2 Julius Barrientos for their courageous acts and exceptional meritorious achievements.
The five suspects were detained at the Aklan provincial jail on two counts of estafa and corruption of public officials.
Senior Supt. Norlito Bautista, chief of the PNP Regional Directorial Staff, said the awardees were honored for their invaluable services and noteworthy accomplishments that contributed to the achievements of the police force in Aklan. /MP
