Kalibo Honors Reodava
The Local Government of Kalibo honored a mother for siring three (3) mentally ill children and taking good care of them. Ms. Reming Reodava was honored as “Ulirang Ina”. The award was given as one of the highlights of the 111th death anniversary celebration of the national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal held in the evening of December 30 at Pastrana Park, Kalibo. Kalibo Mayor Raymar A. Rebaldo assisted by Msgr. Jose Romeo Lazo, Bishop of the Diocese of Kalibo, Dr. Lyn Salido of Soroptimist International of Kalibo and Mr. Albert Meñez of the Kalibo Ati-Atihan Tourism Council handed the award to Ms. Reodava of Bakhaw Norte, Kalibo.
She was cited for her exemplary display of courage, devotion with God and strength to inspire others.
Actually, that award was unique. Where in the Philippines? It was only in the Ati-Atihan town of Kalibo to an “Ulirang Ina” who produced three mentally ill children and who with courage, devotion, strength and faith in God patiently taking good care of them. /MP

Hello,

It is Ati Atihan time again.

Have you ever wondered how did Ati Atihan fared through the years vis-a-vis other festivals in terms of income growth to the municipal/city government? How about for the private businesses?

It would be interesting to know if there are comparative numbers between Ati Atihan of Kalibo, Dinagyang of Iloilo and Sinulog of Cebu. We can normalize the figures to take into account location differences so that what will emerge will be the management skills of the event organizers.

What do you think should be the measures of success of an Ati Atihan Festival?

Should it be:

1. Increase of visitors by so much percent from previous year. How to define a visitor? What is the nnumber last year?
2. Increase by so much percent compared to previous year in municipal income from Ati Atihan related activities. What is last year?
3. Decrease by so much percent compared to previous year in terms of criminal incidents. Will some crimes carry more weight than others? For example, a murder/homicide will weight more than a pickpocketing?
4. Increase in the number of entertainment personalities joining Ati Atihan compared to last year? WHo qualifies as entertainment personality?
5. Increase in the number of national political figures joining Ati Atihan compared to last year? What qualifies to be counted as national political figure?
6. Increase in revenue of private businesses compared to last year. Declared or not?

Will we ever knopw the above?
