Marquez-Pacquiao Fight Vidal Gets Accreditation
By ALEX P. VIDAL
Journalist and boxing referee-judge Alex P. Vidal of Iloilo City has been accredited by the Top Rank to cover the World Boxing Council (WBC) super-featherweight championship fight between champion Juan Manuel Marquez and challenger Manny Pacquiao. The fight will be held at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 15, 2008.
Vidal’s accreditation was made possible through WBC Executive Secretary Lic. Mauricio Sulaiman, son of WBC president Jose Sulaiman Chagnon who helped facilitate the Ilonggo ringster’s credentials with the Top Rank’s Lee Samuels.
Vidal met both the Sulaiman father and son during the WBC World Convention in Manila in November 2007.
Vidal is expected to fly to Los Angeles to cover Pacquiao’s preparations at the Wild Card Gym weeks before the fight before going to Las Vegas.
