Aklan Swimmers Haul Medals

Young swimmers collectively known as the Aklan Aquablades continue reaping awards in national and local swimming competitions while preparing for their invitational tourney in Arizona, USA next year.

Aquablades member Ada Alba-Ortega ranked 12th in over-all national standing for the 400-meter free style swimming competition.

Her new ranking came after she placed seventh in the same event Philippine Aquatic Sports Association (PASA) organized.

Fellow Aquablades member Isabella Ibaretta also placed sixth in the 50-meter butterfly event’s National Age Group finals.

In Aklan during the provincial sports meet last week, Aklan Aquablades members bagged several medals for excellence in swimming.

Their medal haul then consisted of 20 golds, seven silvers and a bronze.

The Aklan team competed in another PASA event in Capiz province on December 5.
Next year, the Aquablades will be joining other PASA swimming delegates in the Lost Dutchman Swimming Invitational.

This event is scheduled from February 19 to 21, 2011 in Chandler, Arizona. (PNA) /MP
