"Bintana" Sa Seminaryo 2010
Sem. Justy F. More describes "Bintana" as a three-act musical play. It showcases the talents of our Seminarians and presents the well-loved voices of the Singing-Priests of the Diocese of Kalibo. It tells of the inspiring stories of three priests and how their Christmas experiences led them to become priests.
Act One is sub-titled "The Christmas Silence," depicting the experience of Fr. Martin to be portrayed by Sem. Justy F. More. It was immediately after the Christmas Eve Mass, when the faithful left for their traditional Noche Buena. Left alone in the convent, Fr. Martin felt lonely and surprised to be visited by his brother priests to be portrayed by Sem. Niño Paul Franco and Sem. Jed Dela Cruz.
Act Two is sub-titled "The Christmas Stories," depicting the three different stories of Christmas each priest shared. However different their stories might be, they realized that they all have one thing in common: Christmas led them to appreciate life more, to see the hand of God working through their experiences and eventually inspired them to become priests.
Act three is sub-titled "The Christmas Surprise," depicting the touching amazement Fr. Martin felt when the faithful surprised him to share Christmas with their Parish Priest. Once more, another Christmas event proved that Christmas is indeed magical… and grace-filled!
The public is cordially invited to please come and witness this annual presentation dubbed, "DAIGON 2010" at the Sto. Niño Seminary, Numancia, Aklan on Monday, December 13, 2010 at 7:00 in the evening.
Nursing Grads Slam Bureaucracy In School Accreditation
The PNA reported, the first batch of nursing graduates of St. Therese College, Iloilo City could not get the nursing board examinations slated in December 2010. The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) rejected their examination application due to non-accreditation of their school.
This came out after the students sought the help of the city councilor Plaridel Nava to compel the school, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and PRC to allow them to take the board examinations for nurses.
Nava is happy with the Sanggunian Panglunsod supports to allow him investigate the status of the nursing graduates’ application to the board examination.
In the regular SP session last month, Nava said he will schedule a dialogue with school officials and CHED to determine what aspect to clarify so as to hasten the release of accreditation and registration of the school.
City Councilor Nava said, it appears there was application of the school more than two years ago for accreditation. However, it is pending upon compliance with certain requirements. The bureaucracy and red tape in the government agency may have delayed the release of accreditation.
Nava also said that St. Therese was able to get a Special Order to Operate a nursing school and the students to practice at the St Therese Hospital, also owned by the school owner, Mrs. Teresa Sebastian Sarabia.
Nava said the school management must have sincerity in dealing with their students so as to avoid similar situation in the future. The school must also push through with its commitment for an accreditation by compelling the CHED and PRC to act immediately.
The students complained to the city councilor of their December exam rejection. They claim additional financial burden if they have to take the exams in June 2011. They have already undergone a nursing review.
Nava assured, he will work hard for it so that the graduates can take the nursing board exam by June 2011 or some eight months from now. The national government is closing unregistered nursing schools and those with zero or minimal board passers. /MP
