WORLD’S LONGEST BANIG
Spearheaded by its local officials, the 2 kilometer-long banig (native mat) of Basey, Samar was officially laid down along their municipal streets during the Banig Festival parade. As the parade passed by, about 500 students held the banig in place while it was unloaded from the truck. The people of Basey claimed to have the longest banig in the world and looked for recognition in the Guinness Book of World Records.
