Attend Nat’l. Confab: PPHA Urges WV Health Workers



The Philippine Public Health Association (PPhA) extends its cordial invitation to all Public Health Workers (PHWs) in Western Visayas to attend the 76th National Convention to be held on October 22-23, 2008 at Club Filipino, Greenhills, San Juan City, Metro Manila.
Dr. Lydia S. Depra-Ramos, PPHA National President, said that there is a need for PHWs to "show our determination and strength to sustain our efforts in pushing forward a climate of change for the better in the lives of each PHW."
"As we aim to promote and maintain a high standard of public health service, we would equally be active and ever vigilant to protect the rights and interest of individual PHWs including BHWs wherever they are, even if they are situated in the farthest marginal countryside," Ramos, longest serving Regional Director of the Department of Health (DOH) Western Visayas, added.
As of latest count, the PPHA is now servicing 50,000 members all over the nation. Membership consists of doctors, nurses, dentists, midwives, medical technologists, sanitary inspectors, medical laboratory aides, dental aides and other professionals and persons engaged in services or work allied to public health.
The 76th PPHA Annual Convention aims to provide an avenue for the discussion of updates on the current policies and standards in the delivery of public health services as well as management of important public health problems that are currently affecting the country; promotion and protection of the rights and interests of public health workers in general. It also wishes to maintain and sustain cooperation, relations and goodwill among PPHA members.
The invited speakers are DILG Under-secretary for Local Government Austere Panadero (Role of PHWs in the Administration’s Success In Governance), Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro Jr. (PHW Empowerment – Key to Peace and Progress), Congressman Arthur Pingoy (Moving Towards the Full Implementation of MC of PHWs); Belo Medical Group Medical Director Dr. Vicky Belo (Beauty and Health – An Ingredient for Work Efficiency); and Salinas Foods, Inc, President Johnny Khonghun (Enhancement of Health Lifestyle Through Community Based Maintenance Program).
Senator Manuel "Mar" A. Roxas is invited as Guest Speaker. Secretary Francisco Duque will also deliver the words of inspiration during the Opening Ceremonies.(by Ulysses Espartero)/MP
