Christy Iledan Cezar of Sta. Cruz, Malinao, Aklan and a graduate of Garcia College of Technology (GCT), Kalibo, landed in the top 7 of the Licensure Examination for Certified Public Accountants given by the Board of Accountancy last month.
Cezar garnered 89.57 percent to place seventh among the 1,597 successful examinees out of the 6,499 who took the test. She graduated Magna Cum Laude of Class 2005.
Aside from Cezar, the new accountants from GCT are Jojit Dela Cruz, Mark Milan Iguban and Vanessa Rasco. A UP-Diliman graduate Gillianne Roselle Say topped the examinations with 91.86 percent followed by Irene Te of Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology with 91.43 percent and Alvin Caballero of Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Sta Mesa with 91.00 percent rating.
College administrator Violeta Distor has attributed the achievements of GCT to affordable and accessible quality education to students, including faculty development program for its instructors.
The GCT also produced topnotchers in the other professional examinations. Its graduates are consistently among the top schools in Region VI in terms of performance in the licensure examinations.
Just recently, Engr. Eugene Nicolas also passed the Registered Mechanical Engineer Licensure examinations given by the Board of Mechanical Engineering. Engr. Junery De Juan hurdled the Electrical Engineering examinations and the Master Electrician Licensure Examinations last September.
The oath taking of successful CPA examinees is scheduled on November 22, 2006 at the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center, Manila. /MP mailto:madyaas_pen@yahoo.com
