Crime Volume Surges

Crime volume for the past nine months increased by 6.67 percent compared to the same period of 2005 the Aklan Provincial Police Office (APPO) reported.
Index crime statistics showed 21 cases of murder, 19 homicide, 10 rape, six robberies, 61 physical injuries and 11 thieveries from January to September, 2006. The average monthly crime rate is 14.22 cases, including non-index crime of 96 cases.
The 128 index crimes and another 96 non-index crimes reported for the period gave APPO a total crime volume of 224 with 212 of which were solved, said PNP Aklan under Supt. William Macavinta.
The crime solution efficiency decreased to 94.64 percent, from 94.66 percent last year or 0.02 percent lower than last year, 2005.
Last year, the PNP solved 199 cases of the total 210 incidents reported from January to September, or an average monthly crime rate of 23.33 cases. /MP mailto:madyaas_pen@yahoo.com
