Did Pacquiao Commit Any Illicit Affair?

By Alex Vidal

"How can I tell her about you? Girl, please tell me what to do." LOBO

The number one reason why until now Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao has refused to admit that Joanna Rose Bacosa was once his inamorata is due to his great fear of losing his lovely wife Jinkee.
But unless there was no secret amicable settlement, my sympathy still goes to Joanna who recently lost the criminal complaint she filed against her boyfriend Pacquiao when the Quezon City prosecutor’s office junked the case for lack of evidence.
The dismissal of the case, however, did not mean that there was no truth to Bacosa’s allegation that the richest Filipino professional athlete today became his boyfriend sometime in 2003, the year Pacquiao and his associate Rex "Wakee" Salud became bosom friends (having joined Salud in at least 10 international boxing fights since 2001. I can accurately claim that I know where the bodies are buried in as far as the Pacman-Joanna affaire is concerned).
Bacosa had accused the former vendor from Gen. Santos City of failing to provide financial support to their rumored love child and of violating the law protecting women and children from violence, or under Republic Act 9262, by threatening to have their son kidnapped.
Bacosa met Pacquiao in March 2003 while working as a "spotter" and waitress at a billiard hall. They became sweethearts. On January 2, 2004, she gave birth to their son.
Assistant city prosecutor Maria Gracia Casaclang said in a five-page resolution "there was lack of probable cause to indict the multi-millionaire pugilist since Bacosa had presented insufficient proof that Pacquiao was indeed the father of the child."
Casaclang said a baptismal certificate, one of the evidences submitted by Bacosa stating that Pacquiao was the child’s father, did not resolve the issue of paternity, since it only showed that the child was baptized on that date. Pictures of the boxer with her and the boy were also insufficient to prove that he was the father, the prosecutor said.
"Said pictures only proved that complainant and her child posed with respondent and had their picture taken together," she added.
During the preliminary investigation, Bacosa’s camp offered to subject Pacquiap’s alleged son to a DNA test, provided that the boxer also undergo testing which was declined by Pacquiao. So there it is.
If Bacosa cannot get justice in court, all she has to do is wait for November 19. Morales might hand her a poetic justice by demolishing the "irresponsible" father of her son. I am talking here of karmic justice, the law of action and reaction. Even then, she still has to press for her rights available under the law as unwed mother to a sports celebrity.
