Union Bank Is GSIS Choice
An anonymous person sent his reaction on my previous column about the "Long Line of GSIS Pensioners at Union Bank in Iloilo". His comment is quoted hereunder.

Why did GSIS chose UnionBank?

Was there any bidding or public hearing? UnionBank has very, I mean very few branches/ATM.. Even their customer service is very difficult to reach. If the number is not busy (almost everytime), there is no officer available (to answer the call). It always takes me days to be able to talk to one. So if you are a credit card holder and you lost your card, who knows, someone would already be able to use it because you are not able to report it’s lost.
Boohh to GSIS and UnionBank!!

Ms. Vivian Ruiz Solano, in charge of the Summer Employment for students must consult the Local Government Units concerning the said project. It appears that some municipal mayors are not informed of the said Summer Jobs for students. This was discovered when Vice Gov. Gabrielle V. Calizo asked Regional Director Estabillo of the Department of Labor and Employment during the distribution of checks for the payment of labor under the Emergency Employment Assistance Program for typhoon victims held in the Aklan provincial capitol recently.
In another project and in the presence of some municipal mayors and key provincial officials in the said meeting with Dir. Estabillo, Vice Gov. Calizo revealed that about 1000 qualified and identified families to be covered by Philhealth forfeited the health insurance benefits because their respective health cards, even if they were issued, were not distributed to the MSWD identified qualified recipients in Balete, Aklan. The premiums paid were wasted.
It is proper that information such as Philhealth insurance be given to the proper person to handle who is the municipal mayor in case of LGU.
Kalantiao Jaycees, Kalibo, Aklan in cooperation with the "Bangon Akean" will launch vegetable program. This is a project to help solve the shortage of vegetables in Aklan, provide alternative productive activity for children, help improve nutrition and give scientific actual learning experience.
This project will cover initially seen (7) Municipalities in Aklan which are: Kalibo, Banga, Libacao, Numancia, Lezo, New Washington and Makato. The details of the project will be explained on Saturday morning, August 2, 2008 during the "Kapehan Sa Akean" tri media program. /MP
