PPhA Inducts Ureta Vice President

An Aklanon was elected vice president for Visayas of the Philippine Pharmacists Association (PPhA). She took her oath of office during the Induction of Officers held at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel Manila, Pasay City.
Mabel P. Ureta-Concepcion, Food and Drug Regulation Officer (FDRO) II of the Department of Health, took her oath before Hon. Leonor Tripon-Rosero, Secretary of the Professional Regulations Commission. PPhA is the country’s PRC-accredited professional organization for practicing pharmacists.
Inducted with Concepcion are the following officers: Normita D. Leyesa, President; Atty. Froilan A. Bagabaldo, executive vice president; Ma. Lourdes S. Garganera, vice president for Luzon; Dean Adelina C. Royo, vice president for Mindanao; Dr. Olivia M. Limuaco, Treasurer; Dr. Yolanda R. Robles, executive secretary; Leonila M. Ocampo, public relations officer; and Dr. Norma V. Lerma, Auditor. The Board of Directors is composed of Marian M. Andaluz, Dr. Rosalinda C. Solevilla, Dalisay J. Cuevas, Marilyn Y. Tiu, Marita P. Siscar and Ramona O. Wee.
Concepcion’s career as a pharmaceutical leader is characterized by many firsts – a fitting testimony to a career hinged on nothing short of excellence.
As the newly-elected vice president for Visayas of the PPhA, she holds the distinction as the first Aklanon to be admitted to the national board of the country’s oldest pharmacist organization. She was also elected vice president for Visayas of the Department of Health League of Pharmacists.
Prior to her election to national office of these two professional organizations, she served as government representative of the Aklan Pharmaceutical Association for Pharmacy Year 2002-2007. It was through her effort and initiative that the APhA was declared national winner of the 2008 PPhA-Unilab Outstanding Chapter of the Year and regional winner of the 2008 PPhA-Unilab Distinguished Chapter for Visayas.
Concepcion’s multi-faceted and distinguished service record of 24 years as a Registered Government Pharmacist tells of a legendary adventure for the promotion of pharmacy as noble yet distinct among health care profession. She even organized events to recognize the exceptional achievements of senior pharmacist. Through her services and leadership, she forged and strengthened new territory for pharmacists in Aklan as instrumental leader of APhA./MP
