Kalibo, Aklan, 14 March 2010 – Jeremi Jorge U. Laureta, 15, of St. Anthony’s College High School, Antique and Jessa Costelo, 16 of Bata National High School, Negros Occidental bagged the Mr. and Ms. Palaro titles respectively in the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet 2010.
Laureta and Costelo bested 4 other candidates based on their intelligence, appeal, attire and special talents.
"I did not expect to win for this is my first time to join a pageant like this", said Jeremi, a taekwondo player.
Laureta received special awards which are Best in Festival Costume, Best in Talent, and Best in Interview. Costelo was also awarded with Best in Sportswear and Best In Formal Attire.
Named first runners-up were Purita Leorcelle R. Duldoco of Antique and Joseph Stephen Janeo of Iloilo.
The second runners-up were Jeremiah B. Estrada from Aklan and Zen Delos Reyes from Iloilo.
Other special awards went to Ms. Purita Leorcelle R. Duldoco - Best in Festival Costume, Ms. Ma. A’Rose Olive Joy M. Martinez of Aklan – Ms. Congeniality, Mr. Micho Santillan of Negros Occidental – Best In Sportswear, Joseph Stephen Janeo of Iloilo – Best in Formal Attire, and Mr. Congeniality.
Mr. and Ms. Palaro will represent Western Visayas in the Palarong Pambansa sometime in April of 2010. /MP
