More than a hundred employees from the local government of Kalibo, Aklan clapped and cheered their hands, jumped and cheered on February 25, 2010, Thursday, after the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Aklan during its 7th Regular Session approved the Municipal Ordinance No. 2010-001 titled "An Ordinance Strengthening The Organizational Structure And The Operation Of Economic Enterprise, Integrating Thereto The Position And Division To One Department To Be Known As The Municipal Economic Enterprise Development Office And Further Granting Authority To The Local Chief Executive Future Expansion Of Service And To Enter Into And Sign Any Agreement Thereat" Resolution No. 2010-015 ratified the said ordinance.
Before the session started, concerned LGU-Kalibo employees walked from the Kalibo Municipal Building to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall, Capitol, Estancia, Kalibo for 15 minutes under the scorching sun. They wore black shirts led by Market Supervisor Abel Policarpio and Private Secretary II Randy Rebaldo. They walked with Mayor Raymar Rebaldo and SB members Gregorio Malapad Jr. and Lillian Tirol.
At first, the said ordinance did not get support from some members of the Sang-guniang Panlalawigan of Aklan. As of their February 18 Session, the said Municipal Ordinance was shelved for the next session due to "technicalities". That sparked a silent call for appeal from affected municipal employees who started wearing black arm bands and or black shirts. They sent a letter of appeal to the SP Office.
All LGU-Kalibo employees will benefit from the creation of the Municipal Economic Enterprise Development Office (MEEDO) as the Salary Standardization Law maybe finally implemented since the ceiling of Personal Services for the whole municipality has not been reached yet. /MP
