The Aklan Dental Society (ADS) celebrated the 6th National Dental Health Month in a simple but meaningful way.
The month of February of every year is dubbed Dental Health Month by virtue of Presidental Proclamation No. 559, Series of 2004. The proclamation aims to promote awareness among the Filipinos on the importance of "Good Oral Health Condition, Proper Oral Health Care, and the importance of Dentist in the community.
The ADS hosted the kick off activities for West Visayas or Region VI held on February 19-20.
The celebration started with a lunch and press conference on February 19 held at Niños Ihaw-Ihaw, Bulwang, Numancia, with the national officers of the Philippine Dental Association headed by Dr. Brual. The press conference discussed the activities held on the celebration of National Dental Health Month, the importance of dental health and the proper care of healthy teeth.
On February 20, there was a Holy Mass celebrated in St. John the Baptist Cathedral, Kalibo at 7:30 in the morning. This was followed by a motorcade around Kalibo and a Dental Care Mission.
Aklan Dental Society this year is headed by Dr. Jenny Rose G. Carpio – president; Dr. Daisy C. Matira – pres. elect; Dr. Lucy S. Salido – vice president; Dr. Alma S. Suelo – secretary; Dr. Amber Lorraine E. Castillo – treasure; Dr. Ragnild S. Miralles – asst. sec. treas.; Dr. Lolita B. Itulid – ex-officio.
The Board of Directors are Dr. Merlie M. Navarra, Dr. Lenny R. Gonzales, Dr. Baby Mary Grace A. Regalado, Dr. Arlene G. Perlas, Dr. Chelda P. Malacas, Dr. Elizabeth B. Cordero, Dr. Sarah T. Roselo, Dr. Lalaine C. Torrenueva, Dr. Marvin R. Sevilla, and Dr. Merlinda I. Revecencio.
