Aklan SP Accredits 5 NGOs Organizations

The Aklan Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) has approved the accreditation of five non-government organizations (NGO) during its 3rd regular session last month.

Granted province wide accreditations are the Aklan Cooperative Alliance (ACA), Lezo Multi-Purpose Cooperative Youth Club (CYC) Laboratory Cooperative and Integrated Barangays of Numancia Development Cooperative (IBONDECO).

The Aklan Cooperative Alliance is a provincial coop federation which has been playing a vital role in the "capability building" of coop primaries in the Province through the conduct and sponsorship of seminars, workshops, and exposure trips to successful cooperatives.

The ACA is composed of twenty four coop primaries with the present membership coming from the different municipalities in the Province of Aklan.

It believes that to further boost the ACA’s working tie-up with the Provincial Government of Aklan and to widen its services to coop primaries, it has to be accredited by the Provincial Government of Aklan as "People’s Organization".

The Lezo Multi-Purpose Cooperative is registered with the Cooperative Development Authority since 1991 with a province wide coverage and 1,359 members. Majority of its members are farmers, housewives, small vendors, private/government employees and farm workers.

The cooperative has business operation that includes: Palay Production/Trading/Milling, Savings and Loans, Consumer Store, Catering, Farm Inputs and Postharvest Facilities (Solar and Flatbed Dryers).

This cooperative is an active partner of the Local Government Unit of Lezo, as well as the Province of Aklan, in serving the welfare of its members and the general public in community development.

The Aklan Medical Society is a non-government organization which made significant contributions to the advancement of the well-being for their fellow Aklanons bringing about hope and positive changes to the lives of the less-privileged citizens. It’s vast and much recognized advocacies and work area of prevention and control of diseases have earned for the province and the people of Aklan respect, admiration and accolades in any level. The Aklan Medical Society has many health partners, both Government and Non-Government Organizations.

The CYC Laboratory Cooperative is one of the active youth organizations in many barangays in Aklan and the only registered Laboratory Cooperative here in the province.

The IBONDECO is promoting the cooperative as a way of life for improving the social and economic well being of the people. /MP
