BIR Conducts Campaign vs. Erring Taxpayers

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Regional Office No. 11-A through its Revenue District Offices is relentlessly continuing its campaign against erring taxpayers.

Revenue District Officer No. 74 Chief Nelia Demalata said that their Oplan Kandado campaign, which is in support to the thrust of their new Commissioner Kim Jacinto Henares, targets to put on surveillance 5 more establishments in Iloilo City.

"We are just waiting for the mission order to be issued so that we can start with the surveillance," Demalata said.

She said that these establishments have been reported to have committed violations such as the non-issuance of BIR receipts and under-reporting of their taxable income.
The BIR has already issued temporary closure to a total of seven establishments and a funeral parlor within this year 2010. Last year, it has padlocked four establishments.
"In fact, we have already overshot our target of having two establishments per quarter," Demalata said.

Among the seven that had already been padlocked are Faith Merchandising, in the town of Leganes, and Baylon Funeral Parlor in Cabatuan. The two recent ones are Allan’s Talabahan in Oton and the Helen and Nato in Iloilo City. (PNA)/MP
