The Rev. Fr. Edsel V. Delfin, 36, a second degree member of the Knights of Columbus of Mt. Carmel Council No. 9279 based at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, Roxas City, received a scholarship grant from the Knights of Columbus Fr. George J. Willmann Charities, Inc. in Manila. Fr. Edsel is presently the Rector of St. Pius X Minor Seminary in Roxas City.
Fr. Delfin was recommended for this scholarship as candidate applicant of the Archdiocese of Capiz by Most Rev. Onesimo C. Gordoncillo, D.D., Archbishop of Capiz. District Deputy Bienvenido P. Cortes, V-l39, of the Knights of Columbus in Roxas City favorably endorsed the application.
Fr. Delfin, teaches Spanish in the seminary. He joined the Knights of Columbus on March 25, 2000 with Membership No. 3653259. He served as Asst. Chaplain of Council No. 369l and is covered with KCFAPI insurance plan No. 90036l4.
The scholarship grantee was ordained priest in 2000. He is thankful to the Knights of Columbus for the opportunity to further his spiritual growth particularly on Sacred Liturgy where he is interested and had been involved in the Archdiocese of Capiz as master of ceremonies. He wish to take a Licensure in Sacred Liturgy at San Anselmo University, Rome starting academic year 20l0-2011.
Fr. Delfin is the second clergy from Capiz province to avail of the Knights of Columbus scholarship. The first was Rev. Fr. John Azarcon who is now assigned at the Sancta Maria, Mater et Regina Seminarium at Brgy. Cagay, Roxas City.
With more than l.8 million members, the Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic organization. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, the community, families, and young people.
