Ms. Lourdes V. Tesoro, principal II of Makato Integrated School (MIS) implements rapid composting project. The main objective is to teach elementary school pupils and their parents how to restore our damaged environment.
Ms. Tesoro is encouraged by out-going president of MIS Parent – Teachers Community Association (PTCA) Mr. Arturo T. Terencio to include in elementary education the technology using effective micro-organism (EM) as weapon on DepEd’s War on Waste (WOW) to have a delightful School Inside A Garden (SIGA).
Mr. Terencio also suggested to DepEd to program a remedial class for adults to keep them aware on the conservation of our environment by rapid composting utilizing EM.
Ms. Tesoro started her plan by advising a teacher, Ms. Isigen S. Tersol to conduct demo on rapid composting. This will allow pupils to learn how to make use of biodegradable materials for food production in their subject on Edukasyong Pantahanan at Pangkabuhayan.
They hope this project will be successful with the full support of DepEd authorities concerned to participate in mitigating global climate change. /MP
