IJA National Journalism Champions


Infant Jesus Academy (IJA) participants and their teacher to the national convention sponsored by School Press Advisers Movement, Inc. on July 28-30, 2010, Casa Pilar, Boracay Island.


Four students of the Infant Jesus Academy (IJA), Kalibo, Aklan hauled four major awards in the different contests sponsored by the School Press Advisers Movement, Inc. (SPAM). The contest is the highlight of the 3 day national convention of SPAM held on July 28 – 30, 2010 at Casa Pilar, Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan.

Some 200 delegates from all over the Philippines attended the convention who are elementary grades, high school, and college campus journalists of their respective schools and colleges. They were accompanied by their journalism advisers and coaches.

Ariel Angelo Q. Garcia is proclaimed national champion, National Journalism Quiz Bee – open category where contestants are elementary, high school, and college levels..

Emmanuel Rome Lakan C. Dela Cruz is the national champion, National Journalism Quiz Bee, grade school level. Emmanuel is also the Feature Writing Contest grade school category national champion. He also won third place in the open category in the National Journalism Quiz Bee open category.

Venice Ivory M. Silvestre is the national champion in Photojournalism High School Level.

Arielle Claudith S. Lunn is one of three national champions in Feature Writing contest Open Category. This is college versus high school versus grade school.

In their quest for glory, honor and happiness, their coach, Mr. Darren Naelgas accompanied them to Boracay. Congratulations! /MP
