Mr. & Mrs. Sportsfest Climaxes
Kalibo Municipal Employees Sportsfest

The search for Mr. & Mrs. Sportsfest 2006 served as the climax of the Kalibo Municipal Employees Sportsfest 2006. The sportsfest ended with a Masquerade Ball held recently at the Magsaysay Park. The participants were resplendent in gowns, tuxedo – like suits and custom-made masks to represent their respective teams.
Team Blue Champs and Team Green Peace split the crown at stake and took the prestige. They won the search.
Mayor Raymar A. Rebaldo awarded Mina Atienza, a Ka-Tribu Radio reporter, and Noriel Dela Cruz, a municipal treasury employee, as the winners of the Search for the Mr. & Ms. Sportsfest 2006.
"This is a very unique and innovative event this year that reminds me of the musical movie, the Phantom of the Opera produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber," said Supervising Admin. Officer, Noel de la Cruz.
This annual event culminated with a fellowship night where respective teams served food and drinks to their members. The awarding of prizes for the various categories of indoor and outdoor games was held.
The sportsfest gathered crowds of spectators who enjoyed the sports activities that started every 3:00 PM, particularly Men’s Basketball and Men’s and Women’s Volleyball where team Green Peace was the champion.
Agri Experts Teach Animal Diseases

Some 45 agricultural technologists from the 16 barangays of Kalibo participated in the one day Training/Seminar on the Prevention and Control of Animal Diseases. It was held at the Conference Room of the Municipal Hall of Kalibo recently. The seminar aimed to empower the livestock and poultry owners in Kalibo.
According to Mr. Joel Semitara, Municipal Agricultural Officer, "only barangay technologists were invited to attend for them to be able to train the members of their respective community to multiply our efforts."
The training seminar taught the participants to familiarize themselves with the different livestock and poultry diseases and to acquire technical knowledge in the control and prevention of animal pests and diseases.
"Our goal is not only to educate our poultry and livestock owners through our (agricultural) technologists but also to enable them to contribute to the continuing growth of our local economy as they provide for themselves means of earning money through entrepreneurship as we gear toward the national government’s plan of eradicating unemployment through micro, small and medium enterprises." Said Kalibo Mayor Raymar A. Rebaldo.
The Agricultural Services Division is one of the income-generating offices of LGU-Kalibo. Its various programs include the anchor project of the training/seminar, the swine dispersal, where P86,000 has been remitted to the Treasurer’s Office from the sale of piglets. /MP mailto:madyaas_pen@yahoo.com
