RC KALIBO CELEBRATES INTERACT WEEK

The Rotary Club of Kalibo held an Interact Week Seminar/Workshop on October 3 at the Livelihood and Training Center, Andagao, Kalibo, Aklan. The seminar/workshop was held in commemoration of the Rotary International World Interact Week celebration scheduled on October 31 to November 6. The Rotary Club of Kalibo advanced its celebration because of some holidays in the Philippines during that week.
The recently concluded Interact Week Seminar on Rotary Basics, Rotary Leadership and Teambuilding Workshop benefited 46 Interactors from the three different schools in Kalibo where there are Interact clubs. These are Regional Science High School for Regional VI with 17 delegates, led by interactor President Hygeia Laurie Fernandez; Dela Cruz Institute of Business & Industry with 16 delegates led by interactor President Edna Silagan and Aklan National High School for Arts & Trades with 13 delegates led by interactor President Remsel Roldan.
RC Kalibo Secretary Melrose "Megs" Lunn started the program with an overview of some Interact materials furnished to the participants. RC Kalibo President AUGUSTO "Gus" Solmirano welcomed the participants during the program; Director Club Service PP Arturo "Art" Carpio shared his topic on Rotary Basics; Tri-Media Chair PP Ambrosio "Botoy" Villorente amazed the participants with his professor-like talk on Rotary Leadership; and Ann Methuselah "Bing" Santamaria, an educator and a Toastmaster gave the participants an educational and enjoyable teambuilding materials to work with. She presented their finished product with a witty explanation and presentation from each group.
Included in the program were raffles of books and mugs to the delight of the interactors. Certificates of Appreciation and token were given to the speakers and Certificate of Attendance to the interactors and their advisers who were also present. PP Edilberto "Nonoy" Macahilig gave the closing remarks.
Interact is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young people whose ages range 14-18. The program gives young people an opportunity to participate in fun, meaningful service projects while developing leadership skills and meeting new friends. Rotary Club of Kalibo is now on it’s 2nd year in celebrating World Interact Week thru the initiative of Rtn. Megs Lunn who also facilitated the program, with the all-out support and collective efforts from the club officers and members. RC Kalibo believes on the saying that, "THE FUTURE OF OUR NATION IS OUR YOUTH", and that one of our programs in Rotary is the development, advancement, growth, welfare and care for the youth.
