To celebrate the Consumer Welfare Month and in observance of the Product Standards and Intellectual Property Rights Week this October, the Department of Trade and Industry – Aklan will organize a Forum on Consumerism and Product Standards and Safety Showcase. This will take place on 14 October (8:30 am to 4:30 pm). The venue is in ACP Centerpointe, Archbishop Gabriel Reyes St., Kalibo, Aklan.
The invited participants are consumers coming from the different sectors (government academe, students, Pos/NGOs, business, professional groups and civil society).

The resource persons will be from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Health, Bureau of Product Standards, and Philippine Product Safety and Quality Foundation, Inc. Exhibitors are local dealers/retailers of mandatory electrical and other hardware products.
The main objective of these activities is to heighten public awareness about consumers’ rights and enhance their knowledge on the significance of standards quality and safe electrical/hardware products, as well as, the different consumer welfare advocacies of the government and other private agencies.
Induction of the newly elected officers of Altavas Consumers Organization, Numancia Consumers Organization and ASU-Kalibo Consumers Advocates Club will be held on the day of the forum. Gov. Carlito S. Marquez will preside the induction ceremony.
This year’s Consumer Welfare Month Celebration is led by Department of Environment and Natural Resources on the theme, “Consumers: Green Multipliers”. /MP
