Western Visayas is awarded the National Gawad Kalasag Award.
The Gawad KALASAG (Kalamidad at Sakuna Laban, Sariling Galing ang Kaligtasan) is award Malacanang and the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) give to recognize the stakeholders in their Disaster Risk Management program.
Office of Civil Defense (OCD) regional director Rosario T. Cabrera was informed that Region VI will receive the Gawad Kalasag Award for having the Best Municipal Disaster Coordinating Council (MDCC), Best Barangay Disaster Coordinating Council (BDCC), Best Private/Volunteer Organization, Best NGOs on Humanitarian Assistance and the Best School.
Cabrera said, "the award for the Best MDCC 1st-3rd Class Category went to San Jose, Antique as 1st Place, and for the 4th-6th Class Category to the Guimbal, Iloilo as 1st Place."
The Best BDCC award is won by Barangay Hoskyn, Jordan, Guimaras as 2nd place.
The Private/Volunteer Organization Category is won by 5052nd Search and Rescue Auxiliary Squadron of Antique as 1st place.
The Best NGOs on Humanitarian Assistance Award went to Social Action Center – Diocese of Antique as 3rd place.
Cabasi-Sta Rosa Elem. School, Guimbal won 1st place in the School Category National Gawad Kalasag. (PNA) /MP
