DepEd Launching Instructional Materials


The Department of Education (DepEd) Regional Office 6 with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) will be launching soon instructional materials on disaster risk reduction and management in Western Visayas.

According to DepEd Regional Director Mildred L. Garay, the instructional materials that they will launch are on selected schools in Western Visayas intended to make the students aware of the kinds of disasters and on how they should respond in times of calamities.

"The instructional materials are developed by DepEd specialists to be used in high schools and public elementary schools." Garay announced.

She said, "the instructional materials are made up of module for teachers, manual and compact disks that could be very helpful in mainstreaming the disaster risk reduction and management in schools."

Among the selected schools where these instructional materials will be launched are in Tugbungan, Iloilo; Banago, Negros Occidental where there had been flooding, and Jaro, Iloilo City where flooding is also a problem. There was also landslide in Tugbungan, Iloilo recently. (PNA) /MP
