The Northwestern Visayan Colleges (NVC), Kalibo, Aklan Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) Unit held its 62nd ROTC Presentation of Sponsors in honor of Ms. Melrose Quimpo Martelino, Chairperson–Board of Directors, NVC with Col. Daniel A. Dela Cruz, Regional Commander of the 6th RCDG, ARESCOM.
The presentation was held in the afternoon of Wednesday, Sept. 1 at Pastrana Park, Kalibo, Aklan.
Atty. Allen S. Quimpo, NVC president in his message congratulated the ROTC cadets and cadettes, the parents and their instructors for their industry and dedication in the molding of the youth into good citizens and leaders. Quimpo reiterated his commitment to the youth specifically of Aklan to provide learning institution of high standard to produce top quality graduates.
In his speech, Col. Daniel A. Dela Cruz, the guest speaker was all praise of the NVC ROTC Unit. He expressed his appreciation of the best performance of the NVC ROTC cadets and cadettes as the best of Western Visayas. According to Dela Cruz, NVC has the highest ROTC enrollment – 91 percent of the students qualified to join.
The actual number of cadets is 825. Col. Dela Cruz was introduced by Lt. Col. Edgar I. Yerro, ROTC Commandant.
The NVC ROTC Unit is headed by Cadette LTC Mielord S. Loyola. Lt. Col Yerro as commandant is ably assisted by Lt. Rafael Escabarte, Jr. – Asst. Commandant. Lt. Eldie Cairan, and Lt. Benjamin Tulayan – tactical officers, Sgt. Felix N. Macavinta – Training NCO; Sgt. Henry S. Bogoy, Sgt. Rex Manares, Sgt. Alejandro Arca, Jr. Sgt. Catalino H. Protacio, Sgt. Gregorio E. Beltran; and Sannen G. Tajaran military instructors.
Ms. Fatima Arboleda is the dean of sponsors while Ms. Virgie R. Macario is sponsors’ adviser.
In the evening of the same day, they held their induction of officers and presentation ball with Dr. Ambrosio R. Villorente as inducting officer and speaker. /MP
