The Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas (BSP) held a program to promote the "Tulong Barya Para sa Eskwela". It was held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, August 31 at Loctogan Elementary School, Loctogan, Roxas City. The program included the presentation of the campaign and ceremonial dropping of donations in the collection box.
The "Barya Para Sa Eskwela" is a nationwide donation campaign that will benefit public elementary schools in the Philippines. The funds to be raised during the campaign will be turned over to the DepEd.
According to Mr. Nicasio Z. Parco, Manager II of the BSP, "Tulong Barya Para Sa Eskwela" is the component of the National Coin Recirculation Program of the BSP to encourage the public to accept and to use coins regularly to keep them circulating.
If the recirculation program is successful, consumers will be able to receive exact change from their transactions, the retail outlets will have sufficient coin supply to serve their customers; the government will generate substantial savings in terms of lower coin production.
The BSP wishes to involve many partner stakeholders. The banking sector, Philippine Retailers Association, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Employees Confederation of the Philippines, Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Philippine Exporters Confederation, Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association, and the Federation of Petroleum Dealers are involved./MP mailto:madyaas_pen@yahoo.com
